El Primer dia del Torneo nos encontro con un gran dia para cricket. Soleado y no tan caluroso, clima ideal para cricket. En el primer partido se enfrento Argentina M13 vs su par de Brasil. Tras perder el toss, nusestro equipo fue puesto a batear. Argentina logro un buen total de 128 por 5 wickets. El bateo de los jovenes fue liderado por su capitan Pedro Baron con 61 not out y bien acompañado por Axel Horwitz con 15 corridas y Denver Gregory con 19. En respuesta los brasil salio decidido a ir por el total, pero fue muy bien restringido por un boleo efectivo y un fildeo muy enchufado. Lo mas destacado fue de la mano de Tomas Rossi y Felipe Jimenez con 3 y 2 wickets respectivamente. Luego del almuerzo fue momento de enfrentar a Peru M13 quien venia de una muy buena victoria frente a Chile. Tras perder el toss nuevamente el equipo fue mandado a batear. Esta vez las cosas no salieron de acuerdo al plan. Trasperder wickets de manera veloz y sin muchas corridas, fueron Denver Gregory y Felipe Jimenez quienes lucharon y aguantaron el asedio Peruano para asi poder lograr un total de 62 all out en 18 overs. En respuesta Argentina fue por la hazaña, y con un muy buen aporte de Alan Kirchbaum con 3 wickets eliminando a bateadores clave y Felipe Jimenez con 2 conquistas que, apoyados por un gran nuivel de fildeo lograron restringir a sus pares a 38 all out en 14 overs. Mañana en el segundo día nuestros chicos enfrentaran a sus pares chilenos a las 10am y por la tarde enfrentara a Brasil por el partido de vuelta.
The under 17s first game of the 2014 South American Championships was against a strong Brazilian team. Brazil won and elected to field first, they got off to a good start when Lucas Ruiz was bowled for 8, and Thomas Rey was also bowled for 14, by some excellent accurate Brazilian bowling. Lucio Gatti, lead by example scoring a solid 20 runs off 18 balls, including the first 6 of the competition. After a couple more wickets, Argentina U17s looked in some trouble at 59/4, but excellent striking from Santiago Rossi and Ignacio Gherardi allowed the U17s upto 113 in their 20 overs. In rely Brazil failed to get close to what turned out to be a substantial score. Only two of the Brazilian batsman manged to get into double figures. A great opening partnership from Sergio Arvallo and Fran Herran reduced Brazil to 23/4, which proved vital in Argentinas win, with Brazil finishing on 79 from their 20 overs. Fran Herran was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 Overs, 3 Wickets for 10 runs. Argentina U17s second game was against Peru, having won the toss Argentina decided to bat first. Again losing early wickets put the U17s in a weak possition, but an excellent partnership of over 100 between Captain Lucio Gatti and Fran Herran guided the team to a menacing 170, with Herran finishing 92 not out, from 59 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes! in response more early wickets hindered a brave response from Peru. Peru completed their 20 overs for 69 runs, with the stand out bowlers being Sergio Arvallo and Lucas Aguilera. All in all an excellent day for the u17s, they showed patience and control with the bat, and pace and accuracy with the ball. Two more wins tomorrow secures a place in the final on Monday.
